H Here are some of the roles of a teacher. Match
them to the situations a – j. (There may be more than one possible answer for
some situations).
a) The
teacher prepares some cards for a game the students will play in the lesson.
b) The
teacher indicates which student should speak next.
c)
The
teacher monitors students in a speaking activity and makes a note of what they
are doing well and what they need more work on.
d) The
teacher joins one of the groups in a team game.
e)
In
a speaking activity one group is silent. The teacher goes over to them and
suggests a few ideas to get the discussion started.
f)
Students
are planning an advertisement in groups. The teacher gives different groups
some vocabulary they need.
g)
Before
the class starts the teacher is chatting to the students about different
restaurants near the school.
h)
The
teacher decides that it’s time to move to the next activity.
i)
A
student makes a pronunciation error. The teacher indicates that the student has
made an error.
j)
The
students are sitting in groups. At a point in the class the teacher regroups
students so everyone is sitting in a circle.
